one of those people who get to watch the episodes early tweeted something today about how part of her name is a common name and its 'cute as hell' apparently sooo It might be a white suburban housewife name. Could you imagine. BARBARA. SUSAN. HELEN. But in all seriousness if they built up s7 before this and give us a name like... Sarah or something I might shed blood. BARBARA MONTENEGRO i will cry. no but really tho i feel like it defs will be something wild cos firstly her dad literally wanted to give michael vincent the worst name so imagine how bad it would have been when it was his decision to name her LMAO. and also judging from her reaction to hodgins in the promo it has to be bad like if it was some mundane boring name she wouldnt be like omg dont say that here i cant wait for whatever horror this name is HAHHA. |

Yes! Well at least according to the P.I. that hodgela hired in s3. She changed her name bc it came to her in a dream. Angela Montenegro is probably a manifestation of her wanderlist bc Montenegro in Europe is a gorgeous place.

Angela is easily my favorite character in the entire show. I want to list the reasons, but my brain's kinda scrabbled and there's so many, I don't even know where to begin. She's like.. sunshine. But a person.
I feel kinda alone in that I don't care what her original name was? Like, a bit curious maybe, but it's not something that I've given much thought or consideration to and if they had never told us what it was, I wouldn't have been upset. (Especially since I doubt anything that they can come up with can live up to the hype of it. I once read a fanfic where it turned out it was 'Tigerlily', and I can't think of anything that could beat that.)
(And tbh it makes me kinda uncomfortable when people refer to it as her 'real' name, like calling an adoptive kid's birth parents their 'real' parents. Like, no, please don't do that. Angela chose to change her name, and it feels like calling her current name false? idk, it could be I'm just being really pedantic or something about the word 'real', which I can admit, but... *shrugs*)

In general I really don't care about Angela's given name because to me Angela is who she really is. I don't use my given name. I really don't like it and I don't like when people use it. I'm nonbinary so my reasoning for changing my name is a little different, but at the same time is it really? People change their names to say who they are. The only reason I'm overly excited about the name change and learning her old name is because it finally gives her storyline. If I wasn't so desperate for an Angela storyline, I really wouldn't care tbh.

yeah im the same i never cared about learning what her name was cos shes always going to be angela montenegro but exactly the same reason, im excited for it cos it finally means a storyline for her, no matter how 'trivial' it is idc it just means more angela screentime and i'll take what i can get lol

Yeah, she definitely needs her own storylines. And it is part of her backstory. I just wish I wasn't seeing people calling it her 'real' name, and I'm a bit worried about how the show might handle it. *fingers crossed*

Well Bones does have a terrible track record with anything like that and trans issues as well (which I'm... so mad... they made angela the worst offender....) but I'm just praying they handle stuff like that well

Apparently I was wrong. They totally beat Tigerlily. (Also, my fears on them handling it badly are not at all helped by Hodgins's constant referral to it as her real name in that promo video. Hope it's addressed later in the episode.)
