Okay I randomly decided to rewatch Putter in the Rough while i was cleaning, and Aubrey's shock/concern over the fact that mini-golf gets so intense makes me laugh so hard omg.

Omg yes. Aubrey reminds me of such a little kid in the sense that he gets so excited and shocked by small things. It's honestly a lovely trait.

haha yes i love it. Like in 10x16 he was just so excited about the case for the entire episode. I loved when he and hodgins went to check out that truck and he picked up an old piece of food and said something like "I'll bet this was delicious once" and hodgins had that concerned dad look on his face "please don't eat that" omg

I really like Aubrey too. Initially it felt like he was a Sweets replacement and they gave him too many quirks. But now that he’s settled in I enjoy him just as much as Sweets. Sometimes Sweets was too deferential to Booth, so I kind of like when Aubrey stands his ground against him. I also like his interactions with Brennan.
Will wait to see if I like the Jessica/Aubrey thing though...

That's how I felt Sweets had become at some point in the show. I understood his willingness to stay quiet, but I appreciate that Aubrey just does not fucking care and will say as he feels. |

While I will always love Sweets, I do appreciate that Aubrey isn't basically Booth's doormat. That's how I felt Sweets had become at some point in the show. Sweets man crush on Booth kind of annoyed me. A lot of times Booth wasn’t very nice to him or would just flat out use him. Like that scene where he emotionally blackmails Sweets into convincing Brennan to have a hospital birth by dangling the carrot of friendship. Also I would’ve preferred it if Sweets named his child after his adoptive parents instead of Seeley. Those people changed his life and showed him that good people can save other people. |

when it first came up it took me a bit of reasoning to understand the logic behind it, but i found myself loving it the more i thought on why sweets rly wanted to name his son seeley.
i think for sweets naming his child seeley was a reflection of how he came to understand the ability to create new families no matter where you are in the world. ultimately, booth and bren created a family for both sweets AND daisy, which is super important, and i think that sweets recognised that. there's so much love, and it opened sweets up to the possibility that there will always be people who would care about him. also to sweets, booth represented courage, family, love, protection, etc etc etc, things that sweets truly valued and wanted for his son. (not saying i necessarily agree w everything but i do understand why they chose to do that)
like!! i would've loved to have seen their son have some reference to sweets' adoptive parents, or daisy's life pre-jeffersonian era, but yeah idk the lab is a second family to everyone, and it has taught every character a hundred things.
but also i agree on the whole sweets blindly agreeing with booth thing, it made me dislike booth a lil' and be sad for sweets
